What a Choice...

by Les Bertrand

We posted this poll on Twitter earlier. It's still open.

If you were in a situation where you had to trust one of these people, who would you choose?

Nicola Sturgeon 88.3%

Peter Murrell 4.3%

Lesley Evans 4.3%

Liz Lloyd 3.2%

(2) Off-Topic Scotland on X: "If you were in a situation where you had to trust one of these people, who would you choose? 😬🤨" / X (twitter.com)

Not easy, eh?

The comments are worth a look. So many simply refusing to choose.

And that's the point of the poll.

These people are (or were) 'public servants' at the highest possible level.

We're not going to court trouble by saying anything about any of them as individuals.

But we can and will say this - if ordinary citizens find it impossible to answer a hypothetical question about 'trust' because, for whatever reasons, the selection offered is so dire, that's bad news for everyone, not just those named. (Only one-tenth of viewers casting a vote.)

It may also help explain why the turnout in the forthcoming general election is likely to be historically low.

Our only regret in raising the question at all is that Sturgeon fans will claim it as some form of 'victory'.

Strange days indeed...
